The article was published on the website
euronews.com on February 17, 2013. The article reports that the highlight of
the awards ceremony at the Berlin Film Festival was the presentation of the
Golden Bear for Best Picture.
According to this article, it was won by
Romanian drama ‘Child’s Pose’ which told the story of a domineering mother who
used her social position to try and save her son from jail.
This extract is said that the film’s director Calin
Peter Netzer explained the seeds of the film. Firstly, the idea for this movie
came from discussions he had with his screenplay writer about the relationships
they had with their mothers. Secondly, they added a lot of fiction. In addition
to, the award for best actor was the surprise of the ceremony with amateur
Nazif Mujic the winner. In this article the author gives the information about
another film ‘An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker’. This film touches the
idea about the Bosnian Roma. It was a message for all Roma people around the
world, because what happened to them shouldn’t happen to anybody.
The author comes to the conclusion that it was
the first time that a Romanian film had won a Golden Bear. After the
international successes of Cristian Mungiu it was more proof that movies with
strong stories from Romania
could convince the jury at international festivals.
As for me, I haven’t seen these films yet but
having read this article I would like to watch them. I think, the most
interesting film is the film “Child’s Pose”.
GOOD!
